Hopefully a simple one to answer.
Is it possible to add the shield handles (not inscription) from nightfall to shields that have dropped in tyria? I have a tyrian shield with the inscription equivalent on it (-2 damage in stance) and was unsureful if I can add a nightfall shield handle to it (have conflicting views from guildies).
Help appreciated as ever

Nope, you sure as hell can't. Only inscribeable shields can accept shield handles - the same goes for applying focus cores to foci.

Remark: The Handle is not Inscription.

The Handle may be applied to any item that accepts it. Anyway it tells you if accepts it or not and ask your confirmation so go ahead and try! I'm sure it works!

As a rule, anything that do not works you'll find out when you try to apply it, so no risks anyway! Go ahead and experience! No damage can be done, unless you do not read the messages and just press whatever is there!

He didn't mean to imply that the shield handle was an inscription, just that before inscriptions were placed in the game, foci and shields were not moddable once dropped. Therefore, only NF shields/foci can be upgraded with handles/cores.

When in doubt, check wiki: Shield Handles were introduced with Guild Wars Nightfall, so shields with a handle applied to it can be found only in Elona. Shields from Prophecies or Factions cannot be upgraded with shield handles.
